ASKAR 65PHQ 65mm f/6.4 ED APO Quintuplet Apochromatic Astrograph Refractor Telescope - GREEN

After the huge success of the  80PHQ, 107PHQ, and 130PHQ telescopes, Askar launched now their small brother, the 65PHQ flatfield astrograph that is available in two colours. The PINK version is a LIMITED EDITION telescope and now available from us at 365Astronomy. The GREEN version is coming soon as well.

The idea is that instead of buying extra flatteners, calculating the back focus of the flattener, or making a tedious connection to match the correct distance, astrophotographers can simply equip it with any possible imaging accessories, make the target stay at the focus, and then the whole optical system is perfect for imaging.

365ASTRONOMY TESTING PROCEDURES

We would usually test about 30 - 60% of  the arriving Sharpstar and Askar telescopes (except the smallest ones in the FMA and ACL range). This will provide us with a good understanding of the quality of that batch of optics. We would also test the focuser and check the optical tube, tube rings and dovetail bar and accessories for any visible damage or fault and take a series of test images with a full frame dSLR camera of a specially designed test chart that will show whether the telescope is fit for a full frame sensor or not, whether the image is flat in all corners and generally it will indicate the quility of the optics, i.e. resolution. Whilst we do store this information for all tested telescopes, we don't usually include a printed report, but if you ask, we might be able to send it to you). If we find that the optics are not correctly collimated then we will send them to a specialist to correct it or if the optics cannot be corrected to a good performance then those will be sent back to the manufacturer for replacement, although our experience with Sharpstar and Asker telescopes is quite good, we rarely had to do that. We believe that there is no need to offer complicated optical test reports that would assume a degree in optical sciences from the user to fully understand them.

The ASKAR 65PHQ has a smaller size than other PHQ astrographs. The 65PHQ has a focal ratio of f/6.4 and a focal length of 416mm. Instead of the quadruplet structure of other PHQs, the 65PHQ is a quintuplet with two ED glasses which offers excellent control of chromatic and other aberrations. With its self-flattening design, 65PHQ offers strong advantages in the astronomical shooting. It supports full-frame imaging circle and has a fine spot diagram with tiny distortions of the peripheral stars.

The 65PHQ comes with a telescopic lens hood, a high-quality CNC machined and painted tube, and attractive decorative parts. The OTA weighs 2kg, and the full package with tube rings, etc. weighs 2.8kg. The 2.5” rigid focuser comes with a new-type 360° rotator with scales and a finder base. M68, M54, and M48 camera adapters are also attached, and the M48 adapter has a 2” female thread for installing filters.

It is also a nice choice for your visual observation. It fits diagonals as well as various eyepieces and can achieve a perfect focus. It can even be used to observe planets with a super-high magnification eyepiece. The 65PHQ contains a multifunctional handle, a 300mm dovetail plate, and sturdy double tube rings. It is small in size and light in weight, which perfectly caters to your need for viewing and shooting.
