Introducing CloverWeights from BoDai-Global.
Developed for the Star Adventurer, EQ3-2 and (H)EQ5, these travel counterweights provide up to 2.5 kilos mass, for up to 80mm refractors for imagers and observers on the move. Why use up your baggage allowance with dead weight? Just buy some cans when you get to your destination, and use them. Save the cost of a Cloverweight in as little as one return air flight!
They can also be made heavier using a sand/water so a 330ml can goes from circa 340grams each to 500grams each, and a 440ml from circa 460grams to a whopping 860grams! We found it easier to pull off the ring pull, and fold back or remove the tab, before filling and covering with tape.
There are 3 and 4 can models for smaller and larger mounts. The Clover Three is for 12mm shafts, and the CloverFour is for larger EQ mount with the 20mm shaft. Weights are circa 135 grams and 168 grams respectively.
These have been balance tested on Skywatcher, Celestron and iOptron mounts, and a CloverThree will balance a DSLR and 70mm Refractor with ease, making tracking more accurate than using the standard counterweight.
Both models comes with a hook too for use as a clamp weight to hang under your tripod for normal photography.
Revised and tested masses for these Cloverweights as they can now be viable replacements/addition to existing setups, where applicable:
CloverThree 1.1kg - 1.6Kg using 330ml cans only
CloverFour 1.5kg - 2.2Kg using 330ml cans
CloverFour 2.0kg - 3.6kg using 440ml cans
440ml/500ml can't be used on the (CloverThree) Star Adventurer as you'd lose adjustment on the bar. We can provide extra straps for the CloverFour needs for the taller cans. The EQ3-2 comes with 5.2kg weights as standard and that's capable of balancing a 150P Explorer! We can't see those going on plane though...
Available in both EQ Silver (£35.99+P&P) or Adventurer Red (£37.99) in the CoverThree (3 Can) , or EQ Silver only for the CloverFour (4 Can) (£39.99).
